Culturing Environmental Sustainbility at Interloop

Sustainability is a key aspect of Interloop’s business strategy and
encompasses the Triple Bottom Line approach, i.e., People, Planet
& Prosperity. The company’s management is well aware of the
global environmental issues, contribution of industrial activities and
their negative impacts. A dedicated Sustainability Cell has started
working at Interloop and has identified environmental impact areas
through a risk assessment exercise. Global & local environmental
concerns were considered while prioritizing the key impact areas.
Sustainability Targets for 2020 have been defined and performance
in identified impact areas is being monitored through regular
measurement & evaluation of multiple sustainability initiatives taken
by the company to achieve these defined targets.
The Sustainability Cell conducted information and advocacy
sessions with relevant stakeholders at all production plants.
Companywide sustainability targets were presented and annual
progress of each plant from 2015 to 2017 was shared. On 31 May,
Sustainability Cell conducted a session with the Executive Board &
HODs and shared the status of production and non-production
waste, proposed the Zero Waste Challenge campaign and PET
bottles elimination from all Interloop production & non-production Faryal Sadiq, Executive Director People & Organization Development
facilities as the 1st initiative of this campaign. The participants also signing the ‘Say No to Plastic Bottles’ pledge board
signed a Pledge for this drive.

Interloop celebrated the ‘World Environment Day’ on 5 Jun, 2018 to
focus attention on pressing environmental concerns. Long-term
production waste reduction targets to be achieved by 2020 were
announced and the Zero Waste Challenge campaign & Beat Plastic
Pollution initiative were launched. Till end of July, we reduced PET
bottles consumption of 0.5 & 1.5 Liters by 28.20% and 83.67%,
respectively.
